Elk, elk, elk

Day 155

With the rut and hunting season simultaneously in progress we are seeing new friends in the woods...

As we turn the foggy corner two hunters shift their gaze from the foggy field to us. Not having run into too many hunters, it's been interesting and a little scary (dudes with loaded, big guns can be a bit intimidating) to share the mountains with them. Silent, they typically pop out of nowhere, but their knowledge of the trail is impressive! Its nice getting a little preview from hunters southbounding,

Most the terrain we go across is never seen because it's too remote. Not for these guys though. Our only issue with a few of the hunters weve come across is all the hunting from trucks. We go past forest roads all the time and see hunters roll by, then hear gunshots shortly thereafter. These guys have the moral fiber of rats.

Long days.
