Campground zero

With heavy rains today, we decided to take an on trail zero day, i.e. we stayed in camp all day and didn’t do any hiking. The weather was forecasted to stop raining today and be nice the rest of the time, and since we’ve got plenty of food we decided it would be nice to allow our bodies a day of recoup after the initial shock of activity.

The ground became quite muddy, and a pool of watery mud started to form under a corner of my tent. I was able to make a little irrigation system to help keep it from growing, and fortunately the rains lightened up a bit.

We spent the day roaming around the camp, which was empty until the evening when a few folks came in. Then around 6pm a group of day walkers came to ruin the solitude and have been blasting music and having a merry ol time (which I’m all for, just not at the top of your lungs). Day walkers are outdoors people that — as name suggest — are only out for a short period of time think they own nature, and treat it like their backyard. Typically inconsiderate (not necessarily because they are bad people, but just neglect to take into account those around them), loud, obnoxious. Oof.

We slept amazingly soundly last night, so fingers crossed they grow a conscious as the sun sets and know that’s the tome to silence themselves.

Tick free today! But then again, I’ve avoided every blade of grass in this campground like the plague. Although, I suppose I already got the plague, so not the best analogy.

Back to miles tomorrow!
