 I am a hiker, but not really an experienced backpacker, who grew up car camping with my family.  I developed a love of the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains, where I grew up, and I live in the red rock high desert of Utah.  I am passionate about the environment, books (my Kindle rules!), music, animals, singing, photography, and hiking, obviously.  I am planning my 2012 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and I will be raising money for a non-profit called Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

    I am raising money in Rhubarb's name for the animals living at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. Best Friends took Rhubarb in from his rescuers and kept him alive and happy, gave him his cart and found him his forever home.

I am tented at the Stony Brook Shelter. There really is a stony brook here, or there would be a brook if it had more water in it. Now it is mostly puddles with a couple of trickles of running water. At least the temperature cooled off into the seventies today and there was a nice, cool breeze. We knew we had a decent climb today, looking at the elevation profile of Quimby Mountain, but it was longer than I imagined and I didn't sleep well last night, so I wore out pretty quickly. How is it that I'm falling asleep while writing/typing? It's only 8pm. We met Payman and Two Steps here. They are from Germany. I need to sleep now. Goodnight.
