I'm in the Allentown Hiking Club Shelter. I love this place! There are two bunks on either side of the shelter, a chess/checkers board painted on the floor, and a nice, green lawn. Willie Laks did come this morning with a blanket, people food, food for Lou, some bottled water, and dry clothes and socks for Chris. I'm glad he came so early because we couldn't leave without Eagle Eye's tent and we couldn't take the tent from Chris and leave him with nothing.

Once we tried to get Chris situated, Willie hiked with us to the parking lot. I can't believe he did these rocks in the rainy dark with no flashlight! How did he find the trail? Then he drove us to an awesome bagel place where he treated us to bagels and coffee. I had pumpkin spice coffee with french vanilla creamer, plus half and half, plus sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top. And a pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese. It was so good! I'm drooling just writing about it.

Willie brought us back to the trail and hiked the Knife Edge with us, in the misty fog. It was slippery and I pulled something in my foot as I tried not to fall into a crevasse and break a leg or something. I made it without falling, but I hope my foot gets better quickly. The last couple of miles were painful. I read in the shelter logbook that 3/4s fell yesterday on the Knife Edge in the heavy cold rain, and gashed his leg and hit his head. I hope he is ok, and I'm glad we stopped when we did, even with the stress of Chris Godby. I think he is lucky we were there, too. I think it's possible he might not have made it through the night had he been on his own.

This really is an awesome shelter! I wrote about our encounter with Chris Godby here in the register. I thought people should keep an eye out for him. He says he is headed north. I don't know how he will survive and I feel so bad for that poor dog. I know Chris loves Lou, but I'm not sure he's capable of caring for him. I wish them both luck, but I'm heading south.
