The night before Christmas

It almost doesn't seem real, but this is the last night before Andy and I embark on our next adventure together!

With my pack pushing 90 pounds (without water), it's not only going to be a hefty load to cart around, but expensive to check at the airport...

Carrying all my food is an entirely new experience to me. It's exhilarating, and terrifying. At four and five times shorter than the AT and PCT, it almost feels it being shorter makes the trail easier; so sure, why not carry all my food?

Ha. Right, 800 miles easy. I know it will be tough, and at times grueling. However, the anticipation of a wholly new experience almost whitewashes any worry. In two days time, I will be sleeping on a 2.5 inch air 3/4's length air mattress, in a compact tent, about in the middle of nowhere Arizona with nothing but sky above and the dirt (potentially snow?) below.

I look forward to what the next 30(ish) days have in store, and for the support that everyone has shown us!

Next post, from Tuscon, Arizona.
