Ian is a full-bred New Yorker and has spent most his life on Manhattan’s Lower West Side. Living only a few blocks from the events of September 11th, he became acutely aware of life’s unexpected nature.

With extensive training he has become EMT certified and spends his free time working with the Red Cross as a volunteer. As a ‘day job’ Ian worked at one of creator and head judge of Top Chef Tom Colicchio’s restaurants -- Colicchio and Sons -- in NYC, and currently works at Patagonia as he finishes a degree in management at NYU.

Serving as Executive Director for The Dusty Camel, as well as Expedition Manager, he is well versed in planning and consulting for all types of expeditions. 

His outdoor expertise is focused in first-aid, gear maintenance and navigation.
